Fees and Policies

Cancellation

- Please provide 24 hours notice for appointment cancellation. This allows for your appointment to be filled by another client in need.

- Life happens. If you need to reschedule or cancel an appointment, I am happy to provide a refund, minus a $5.00 refund processing fee

- If you are late to your scheduled appointment, your session will still finish at the scheduled time. This allows any following clients to have their full session time.

- Clients who fail to show up for a scheduled appointment may be billed for the full cost of the scheduled session.

Payment, Health Benefits and Reimbursement

- Counselling rates do not include GST, as this tax is now exempt in British Columbia for mental health providers.

- For phone or video sessions, please pay at least 24 hours before your session via credit card upon booking.

- For in-person sessions, cash, etransfer or credit card payments are accepted.

- Official receipts for health care provider reimbursement or tax purposes are issued for all sessions and sent via email. Please notify me in session if a printed copy is preferred.

- Please contact your health insurance provider to discuss mental health reimbursement. At this time, the BC government has not included counselling as part of the medical care program like they do for physicians.

Many workplaces have an extended health benefit program (i.e. Sunlife, Canada Life, Green Shield, Pacific Blue Cross) and offer some financial coverage for counselling. Clients should double check their coverage if the agreement includes specifically “counsellors”.

- If your extended health benefit does not include RPC counsellors with the CPCA in the list of approved counselling professionals, sometimes employees can negotiate that the agreement adds counsellors into the wording.

- For reduced counselling fees, please contact Whistler Community Services Society (WCSS) to discuss your needs with an Outreach Support Worker.

'No Secrets' policy for couples

When working with a couple, the relationship becomes my client.  During the course of working with a couple, I will request one individual session with each of the partners as part of the EFT treatment model. Such sessions are confidential in the sense that I will not release any confidential information to a third party, unless I am required by law or have your written authorisation, and the authorisation of the other individual in the couple. In some circumstances, if one partner shares a secret, which, if not disclosed may impede the treatment process, I may need to share that information with the other party. This ensures I am effectively serving the couple.

I will use my best judgement as to whether, when and to what extent I will make disclosures, and if appropriate first give the individual the option to disclose the information themselves. If you feel it necessary to discuss matters that you want absolutely shared with no one, you may want to consult with another individual therapist. This 'No Secrets' policy is intended to allow me to safely treat a couple, and help maintain a positive relationship with each partner.
