​Welcome, I'm Eileen. I work with clients  who want more from their lives and relationships, and understand that this often means turning inwards and starting with self reflection.  

 

I practice an integrated Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT) approach. EFT is an experiential therapy, it looks at how the emotional blueprint we learn in our earlier years may no longer be serving us in our present relationship with others and ourselves. It's an empirically proven therapeutic approach that creates self-compassion and curiosity for why things are the way they are, and facilitates positive corrective experiences to reshape our relationships. This leads to lasting change in the emotional responses that strengthen secure attachment in a relationship.​​

On the other hand, Rational emotive behaviour therapy (REBT) helps us listen to our inner compass and reduce challenging or irrational thoughts. REBT posits that it’s not events that directly cause certain emotions or behaviors but our own beliefs about the events that lead to our behaviors. REBT takes a more philosophical approach to mental health by aiming to change irrational thoughts and beliefs to more helpful ones.

Ultimately, it’s ok to seek the opinion of others, but it’s essential to never lose sight of what’s right for you. REBT leans into greater self-direction in life and to not think or feel how others or the world tells you.
